Rules and Scoring
How to win
1. Be the first player to score 10 points .
2. If your opponent taps out to an arm lock or strangulation technique, you win .( Standing arm bars and chokes will be allowed )
3.If your opponent gets 3 penalties or a DQ
4. If the time has ran out.The win will go to the player with the most points.
Points
1.Submission-10 points
2.Ippon Throw-5 points
3. 20 second pin- 5 points
4. Waza Ari Throw- 2.5 points
5.10 second pin- 2.5 points
6. Yuko Throw -1 point
Penalties (Shido)
The rules of Kosen Judo are simple
No stalling .The players have to keep the fight going .
No sitting down .The players have take the fight to the ground with a throw.
No breaking a grip and stepping back . The players have have to counter grip if they break a grip to stay in contact with the other player
No staff arming without attempting a throw .
No going out of bounds on purpose
No putting hands in other players face
No running from the other player .Players have to grip fight to get control to set up there throws .
If the referee ask you fix your gi and retie your belt . Taking too much time will be seen as you trying to rest
This is a fun in house development tournament . The referees wont give penalties to player under brown belt on their first offence
DQ (Hansoku-Make)
1.Doing anything to deliberately hurt the other player
2. Getting 3 small penalties
3. Being disrespectful to other players or referees
4. Attempting dangerous techniques
1. Kani-Basami-flying Scissors throw
2.Kawazu-Gake- Leg Entanglement throw
3.Daki-Age- High Lift throw ( allow known as the slam when someone as you in guard or armbar and you pick them up and slam them on there head .
4. Do-Jime - Body Strangulation . This is when you straighten both leg when you have someone in your guard to put pressure on the floating ribs. This technique is not the same as a body triangle . The body triangle will be allowed.
5. Using a Kata- Sankaku grip with a throwing technique
6. Throwing your opponent while applying a choke or arm lock
7. Ashi -Garami or Ashi- Gatame ( Knee and Ankle Locks )
8. Wrist , fingers, neck, spine ,or hip submissions
In this Kosen Judo tournament we're giving you the opportunity to use your old leg grab take downs ,combinations and counters with the big upper body throws ,and more time in ground work .
The rule set of this tournament gives you a more realistic grappling experience!
It answers the question we all have heard at Judo or Jiu-Jitsu tournaments . What would have happened if we kept going after the Ippon throw ?,or What if he had to stand up with me ?
